I often hung out with the foreign workers in Little India on Sundays. I took a photograph of a scene at Farrer Park after snacking with a group of them on some dry snack mix, which was similar to the Bengali Curry, Chaat Masala. I adapted the photograph to a painting and blew out the background. The title, Close Encounters, refers to my relationship to the foreign workers there. We are both aliens there and have something in common, that which was to help build the nation of Singapore.
